Stlouis-Online Frequently Asked Questions
Questions and possibly even answers (no guarantees) to a few common questions.
They say there is no such thing as a dumb question. You be the judge.

Why do the photo albums say I'm not logged in but the main page says I am logged in?
[Short Answer] Because you're not logged in. Either your login expired, the server dropped your login due to load, or your browser doesn't support cookies / javascript.
[Detailed Answer] For speed/performance purposes, the main page does not update unless its reloaded or refreshed. Its entirely possible to login on new years eve, leave your computer on without browsing away from that page, come back at christmas, and it still says you're logged in; ....NOT! The server resets a timer everytime you refresh or load a webpage (and a webpage only).

The timer does not get reset when you flip through pictures in a photo gallery because the image gallery/photo album makes heavy use of caching to drastically enhance photo album performance and decrease image load times. In short if you know you've been viewing a photo album for a long time, you can bet your login probably expired.

The only other time when you may be notified that you are not logged in is when the server dropped your login. This has been rectified to the best of the web-developers ability and although much more rare than before is unlikely to change unless someone has deep pockets for a more powerful server plan from our webhost. Side note: Stlouis-Online takes donations as little as $5 year round :)

I know the event photographer for Stlouis-Online took my picture, why wasn't it included in the photo album?
[Short Answer] Because the person who created the album didn't feel like including it... What (sorry my sugar-coating wand is in the shop).
[Detailed Answer] Believe it or not burning up our retinas in the wee hours of the morning retouching and color-correcting photo albums is no fun, so here's where we try to save ourselves from premature blindness.
  1. If you took more than 3 pictures, its highly unlikely we'll include them all. Odds are 80% of them looked the same, just a different background.
  2. If your photograph was underexposed / overexposed beyond our correction capabilities most likely the photo won't make the cut.
  3. If you took a great picture with a REALLY hot girl or guy and as soon as you walked off they asked us to delete that picture, guess what, your picture didn't make the cut.
  4. If you enjoy taking those problematic group shots and ANY one person in that group shot of 50 people asks for us not to use the photograph, guess what, your picture didn't make the cut. FYI, large group (4+ people) shots are ALWAYS a pain in the ass.
  5. If there was something strange going on in your picture such as a preponderence of closed eyes (blinking), nipple slips (it happens!), etc; guess what..., you guessed it, that photo won't make the album.
  6. If there was nothing wrong with your picture, but there was really nothing right about it either... guess what, BAMMM! it gets cut. When we've got 100+ photos to process we have to make cuts somewhere. We generally start cutting with the people who love those really horrific head to toe shots and poses (they never work out... way too much background interference).
  7. If you love those obscene little, "hey look I'm cool I'm throwing up the middle finger like I'm in high-school again" poses, it'll probably be cut. Not necessarily because we're offended, just because we think you're an immature little asshole dirtying up the genetic pool of life and we'd rather not acknowledge your existence. Nothing personal tho ;)
  8. ...[insert common sense reasons here]
